Hello! My name is Kelsey Huggins, and I am the founder and lead designer of Cobalt Collective Interiors. I grew up in Missoula, Montana, surrounded by its breathtaking landscape, which instilled in me a deep appreciation for beauty from an early age. The changing seasons brought a renewed sense of wonder as I marveled at the stunning combinations of colors and textures that nature provided throughout the year.
As a child, my family moved around a lot, therefore the idea of home was sometimes hard to define. However, my mother Andrea had a remarkable talent for breathing love and light into any place we lived. She taught me how to make any space feel safe, harmonious, and like home, regardless of the size of the area, how long we were there, the available furniture, decor, or the location we were staying. Her gift inspired me to explore and develop my own skills in this area, putting them to use over years of moving around multiple states in my adult life (next to beaches, in the mountains, the desert, in cities, and everywhere in between). I learned that your home is very impactful to your well-being, thus influencing how you show up in the world. Tending to this space intentionally and authentically feels only natural to me.
With a Bachelor's in Art History and extensive experience in event design and production, I decided to pursue interior design as a way to combine my passion for artful aesthetics and skill set of curating beautiful spaces. In 2018, I completed the Residential Interior Design course at the New York Institute of Art & Design. While studying, I started working for a bespoke textile and wallcovering company in Northern California, which allowed me to travel across the country, visit interior designers and showrooms, and attend trade events in the interior design industry. Later, I became a sales representative for various home goods brands and artists, presenting their products to interior designers in Reno/Tahoe, Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming.
In 2020, I launched my own interior design consultation business Cobalt Collective Interiors in Bozeman, Montana. While I appreciate all design styles, I am particularly drawn to eclectic interiors that blend vintage objects, artisan-made products, Scandinavian clean lines, and a touch of bohemian charm. I find joy in curating spaces that reflect my client's unique personalities and needs, drawing inspiration from the endless creative expressions that exist in the world of aesthetics.
When selecting materials for my projects, I always take into consideration the impact it might have on the environment, and strive to opt for recycled or eco-friendly options whenever possible.
